First Wednesdays Lightner Museum Tours – Lightner Museum’s curator provides an exclusive encounter with some of the museum’s eclectic relics. This themed interactive tour is designed to give participants an opportunity to talk with the curator and to see acquisitions in operation rather than just as static displays. Discover First America Program – Journey: Vignettes of St. Augustine’s African-American History. Chapters of St. Augustine’s lengthy African-American history come alive throughout this program that features re-enactments of the lives of the first African-Americans. Also, the program includes a re-enactment of the famous Civil Rights Period sit-in at the Woolworth’s lunch counter. Florida Orienteering Festival – From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., the Florida Agricultural Museum presents a fascinating course on how to navigate through the Florida wilderness. Open to all ages and levels of experience. This trail-hiking program is a light competition with different skill-level trails. Instructors will be on site to explain how the game works. There are 3 orienteering courses from one to three-miles in length and participants must finish within two hours of their start time (3 p.m. is the deadline for completion). Changing of the Guard Ceremony – At 6:30 p.m., St. Augustine’s Spanish Garriso
n conducts a 1740 Changing of the Guard Ceremony in the city’s Plaza de la Constitucion. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., with two groups of soldiers marching from the Spanish Bakery — one heads north on St. George Street to the City Gate and the other group comes south on the street to the Governor’s House where they will demonstrate Spanish military arts and explain the purpose of the Changing of the Guard. At 6:15 p.m., after greeting the public at the City Gate, the second group of soldiers marches down St. George Street to join their comrades at the Governor’s House where the Changing of the Guard, complete with a volley of musketry, will be performed. The Garrison will then march back to the Spanish Bakery. St. George St. and Government House on the Plaza, St. Augustine.

Discover the Birds of Anastasia – Led by an Anastasia State Park volunteer, this fun and informative walk is open to participants of all birding levels. From 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., observe a diverse variety of shore birds, marsh birds and hammock birds by walking the beach, boardwalks, nature trails and other areas. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars, water, comfortable walking shoes and a field guide if you have one. Meet at the Island Beach Shop & Grill Pavilion.
