MENORCAN HERITAGE CELEBRATION
(Across the street from the St Francis Inn!)

Come learn about this unique cultural heritage found in St. Augustine. The Menorcan Heritage Society will hold their annual celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historic Llambias House, located at 31 St. Francis Street in St. Augustine. There will be demonstrations of mullet net making, dance performances, and story telling by Menorcan descendents. There will be t-shirts books and foods for sale. Admission is free. LA GUARDIA DE NOCHA: SPANISH NIGHTWATCH SIEGE (photo credit)Spanish Night Watch commemorates the events leading up to the 1740 invasion of Spanish Florida by the British colonies to the north. On Friday a night-time depiction of actions leading up to and during St. Augustine’s Siege of 1740 takes place at 6:30 p.m. at the CastilThis Weekend in St. Augustine 3 StAugGarrison St. Francis Inn St. Augustine Bed and Breakfastlo de San Marcos. Then on Saturday,beginning at 10AM, Spanish soldados at the Castillo will demonstrate the military arts of the period. Musket and cannon demonstrations, military maneuvers on the Castillo green, and interpretations of 18tth century daily life in Spanish Florida will be presented throughout the day. Then at 7:30 p.m. beginning at the Castillo, la Guardia de Noche will culminate in the Spanish Night Watch Military Parade. Military units and civilians will march out of the Castillo’s gates to begin a torch light parade to the Governor’s Palace. Visitors are invited to follow the Governor, soldiers, and townsfolk in the Night Watch parade and celebration. Admission to Castillo de San Marcos is $6 for adults and free to children 15 and under, all other Spanish Nightwatch events are free. GHOST AUTHOR AT RIPLEY’SNew York author Linda Zimmerman will be at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum in St. Augustine to sign copies of her latest book, a special 10th Anniversary edition of the Ghost Investigator series. She will sign books from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Ghost Parlor and again from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. when she will depart with other ghost hunters aboard Ripley’s Ghost Train Adventure. 29th ANNUAL LIONS CLUB SEAFOOD FESTIVAL

Get ready for great seafood nearly any way you want it; tap your toes to live bluegrass, folk and country music; then shop for unique arts and crafts presented by more then 100 exhibitors. This three-day event is a favorite throughout northeast Florida and features tons of delicious seafood, outstanding music and affordable arts & crafts. Musicians can even enter the “Americana Music Idol” contest. The Lions Club Seafood Festival takes place at Francis Field on Castillo Drive in St. Augustine. HARVEST OF HOPE FESTIVAL

The second Annual Harvest of Hope Concert, a diverse music festival to benefit migrant farm workers, provides multiple stages with performances by punk, indie-rock, hip-hop, alt-country, folk and blues bands. This year’s line up showcases a diverse roster with national and international acts including Billy Bragg, Dr Dog, The Mountain Goats, Leatherface, Rogue Wave, Delta Spirit, Senses Fail, Anti-Flag, Dead Prez, Kimya Dawson, Samiam, Torche, Strike Anywhere, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Dr. Octagon AKA Kool Keith, Small Brown Bike, Portugal. the Man, Black Sheep, Danielson, Coalesce, Man Man, forgetters (Ex-Jawbreaker/ Against Me!), plus over 150 more artists joining together to raise awareness to the plight of migrant farm workers! Harvest of Hope Fest takes place at the St. John’s County Fairgrounds, located on SR 207, 7 miles west of I95 Exit 311, in Elkton. The Fairgrounds offers 90 acres of shaded grassy pasture for plenty of rustic camping. Three-day tickets for the Festival are $49.50. Walk-up 3-day tickets will be $60. SOUTHERN EXPOSURE MUSIC & HERITAGE FESTIVAL Celebrate the past, present and future with three generations of the Guthrie family, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and the best in old time music, country, bluegrass, folk, and blues. Activities for everyone include story telling, cultural exhibits, a barn dance, old Florida vendors, pony rides, crafts, and southern cookin.
