THE PIRATE GATHERING

Come ashore in the Nation’s oldest city for the 3rd Annual gathering of pirates from all over the south for a celebration of the Golden Age of Piracy. See a pirate mutiny, weapons demonstrations, sailor’s encampment, shop in the Thieves Market and hear stories of the high seas, history and sea shanties. On Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., experience living history at the De Mesa Yard at the Colonial Spanish Quarter on St. George Street. At 3 p.m., the gates to main gate at Francis Filed open. Then from 7 to 11 p.m. the adults-only Historic Pub Crawl starts at the Maiden’s Pub at Francis Field on Castillo Drive at 7 p.m. On Saturday fun activities for the whole family at the Gathering are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Francis Field, on Castillo Drive and the Buccaneer encampment at Colonial Spanish Quarter on St. George Street. At 12:15 p.m., head down to St. Augustine’s Bayfront to observe a Tall Ships battle at sea, followed by a piratical land battle along Orange Street. There’s even a kids pirate costume contest at 3 p.m. The encampment and Gathering are also open Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the battle at sea will be repeated at 2:30 p.m. Admission is a buck-an-ear ($2 per person). A Prairie Home Companion Live from The St. Augustine Amphitheatre

Join host, Garrison Keillor for a fun-filled evening of music, storytelling and more during the live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion, one of America’s most celebrated Radio shows. The show will be broadcast live from the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340 A1A South in St. Augustine. Tickets are $65, $55 and $35. WORLD GOLF HALL OF FAME FALL PUTTING CLASSIC

Golfers are invited to participate in the inaugural Fall Putting Classic Nov. 13-14 for a chance to win more than $3,000 in prizes. Qualifying rounds will begin Saturday, Nov. 13 followed by a complimentary reception at the Hall of Fame’s Challenge Hole where Sunday qualifiers will be announced and teams will have a chance at a closest-to-the-pin contest. The registration fee for this event is $35 per person which includes greens fee, a goody bag and entry to the reception. The field will be limited to 72 teams. Plus, active duty, reserve and retired military personnel receive free admission to the World Golf Hall of Fame and a round of golf on the putting course — simply download the free admission form from the website.
