 Seminole War Commemoration – Organized by the West Point Society of North Florida and supported by the 450th Military Commemoration Committee, the Seminole War Foundation Inc., and the Dade Battle Field Society, this event commemorates the end of the Second Seminole War and remembers those who died, including many West Point graduates, during the conflict. The event takes place at the National Cemetery at St. Augustine and its three pyramids under which are buried the remains of Major Dade’s command and other officers and soldiers who died in the fighting throughout Florida. The deceased were reinterred at this location on August 15, 1842. Living History at Ximenez-Fatio House Museum – From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., professional re-enactors will portray guests staying at St. Augustine’s historic Ximenez-Fatio House during the Second Seminole War (1835-1842). Sara Petty Anderson, the owner of the house, her friend Louisa Fatio, Dr. Peck,and several guests will be portrayed during the “uneasy” times at the historic boarding house. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, admission to the museum is $7 adults, $15 for families, and $5 for students and military.
